Like Grandmother, Like Me?

Posted in thesmilingduck.wordpress.com - 354 d 2 h

oletha

You might not have known it if you had met her, but my grandmother was unrelentingly determined to get what she wanted, and as a result, she believed that pretty much anything she set her mind to was possible. One of her steadfast convictions was that the people she met and spoke to would be moved by her story and would support her rescue-the-children, eat-healthy, praise-Jesus way of living.

DVD Digitisation Backing-Up Extravaganza

Posted in scottjacksonx.wordpress.com - 351 d 9 h

This year, one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to “convert more things to digital format, get rid of the real-world versions of those things”. The main thing I was talking about there was my DVD collection.

part of my dvd collection

That’s only the ones that were in my room at the time - the full collection is two to three times that size. Suffice it to say, I had my work cut out for me.

7 things making me tear my hair out after installing openSUSE 11.1 (and some good stuff)

Posted in alternativenayk.wordpress.com - 413 d 8 h

openSUSE 11My previous post was honest, but still irresponsible. It could have given the impression that openSUSE 11.1 was not a good distribution. I’m sure it works perfectly for thousands of people. So I admit that my problems with openSUSE 11.1 are probably only my own…  I guess I’m not that lucky to have openSUSE work on my computer… or I must be dumber than I thought. Still, AFTER I reinstalled EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING including Windows), I finally got openSUSE 11.1 working… and then I was faced with problems of ‘using’ the distribution and this is that story.

Packet Analysis 2.0

Posted in wifijedi.com - 305 d 8 h

It seems like I am going to bring my wireless packet analysis to a whole other level – “Packet Analysis 2.0″, if you will. Two of my favorite wireless capture and analysis tools have recently been updated – OmniPeek Professional and Wireshark.

I have been at meetings at our company HQ (Xirrus) most of this week, so I haven’t had a lot of hands-on time with either updated tool.

OmniPeek Professional has just been updated to version 6.0.1, as of April 3rd. It seems to offer much more flexibility of viewing multiple data windows through mechanisms similar to tabbed browsing.

angstromqemu

Another gem from the German camp. One of the blogsters at today.openpandora has put together a Qemu package, allowing us non-hacky Windows types to have a stab at Angström.

Note: This is a Windows package, graciously put together by a community member. Linux users should check out this thread. If a package like this is released for other platforms, you’ll hear it from us first.

Anyhow, back to the package at hand. Free translation (you’ll get the idea):
